I didn't know it was possible...

That I could seriously have the cutest kids!
I just got a new lens for my camera and have been taking hundreds of pictures! I'm still learning how to use it on manual and get the settings/lighting just right. This pic was a little bright, but I did get some great ones that I am excited to post. So sorry if there will be some what of an overload on here in the next few posts! Our poor computer is starting to run so slow because I've taken up all the space.

Stay tuned for many, many more pictures of my two cuties!

Some things I really love...

  • When Devin is fighting to go to sleep, and screams and screams (don't love that) and I give in and hold him, cuddling him close. Then I kiss him on the cheek and he can't help but giggle every time, even if he's still crying.
  • How Luke wants to snuggle with me on the couch.
  • When Devin is hungry and watching me open the baby food, or mix the cereal and he makes this whimpering sound and opens and closes his mouth to make it sound something like this, "ahyayayayahayaya." It's a sweet sound, nothing loud and annoying (yet).
  • That Devin loves to eat food.
  • When Luke and I have quiet time, while Devin is napping. We usually end up snuggling on the couch, under a blanket, reading a lot of library books. And sometimes Luke will even fall asleep.
  • How Matt teaches Luke to respect and listen to his mama (me).
  • The ring tone I have set on my phone for when Matt calls. I get excited every time.
  • The sound of the garage door opening or the keys turning in the backdoor, when Matt gets home.
  • The growl sound that Devin makes when he's playing and pulling everything towards his mouth. It's so funny.
  • How Devin just rolls all over the place. He's so determined to get around, so he rolls right into the next room. Or now he'll even slide himself around on the hardwood floors.
  • How Luke just loves his little brother.
  • How Devin tries hard not to smile, but ends up smiling anyway.
  • That Luke is "the cleaner guy" and always wants a job to do. And he's always so proud when he cleans up the front room. Even though all he's done is picked up everything and put it on the couch.
  • How happy and excited Devin is to see all of us in the morning (especially me).
  • That Matt is so encouraging and supportive. He's always encouraging me to learn and try new things, hanging out with my girlfriends, telling me to take a friend out to eat, or take time out for myself. He's such a great guy.
  • How Devin reaches for me.
  • That Luke loves to have dance parties with me and is silly and wild. We have so much fun and he's actually quite good.
  • That Devin is so ticklish on his neck, under his cheeks. He laughs every time we kiss him there.
I love that my life is surrounded by these amazing guys, big and small.
I never imagined that when I had children that I'd be outnumbered. I'm pretty girly, I just assumed that I'd have all girls, I guess. And I thought that my life would be complete chaos (and maybe it will be when they're older) with boys. But I actually love having boys and wouldn't be sad if our next (not anytime soon) was a boy. Most people when they see me at the store say something rather annoying like "Ohhh two boys! Gesh! You must go crazy" or whatever. Some people really like to give you their opinion around here! But this older lady noticed my two boys when we were shopping the other day and I was expecting a similar comment, but she surprised me. She said, "Oh you are so lucky to have two boys. Boys are so sweet and they just love their mama's!" It made me happy, and I completely agree with her.

Luke's funny saying of the day...

Mom (during the bedtime routine): Luke, you need to go potty before you go to bed.

Luke runs to the bathroom, pushes open the door.

Luke: Ahhh there's a big guy in there mom!!!!

Runs back into his bedroom, where I am.

Luke: Mom! I can't go pee because there is a BIG guy in there!

Maybe Matt should start locking the door. And stop scaring our child.

I thought this was funny and blog-worthy...Matt might disagree. :)

Teething

Poor guy.
Need I say more?

Oh Luke

I don't get why everyone complains about the "terrible two's," I think the three's are much harder. At least around here they are.

Luke is actually a pretty mellow, easy going, crowd-pleasing kid. But he is a 3 year old boy and tends to get a little wild at times, as he should. He has quite the little attitude sometimes and I don't think he really knows how to let out his frustration, besides hitting things or growling really loud. He's working on being obedient. When we ask him to do something, he says okay, but takes the long route to walk to time out, or slowly rolls into the time out corner....it is funny...but makes it hard to discipline the boy. Anyway, we're working on that. On a better note, he is a great kid and we love him to pieces.

He loves to do karate, or "wakwatee."
Have sword fights.
"Set up" stories (tell/make up stories).
Play "name that tune" and he's actually really good at it.
Read books.
(Try to) Shoot his bow and arrow.
Play games on the "waputer."
Use his iphone (which is really a calculator. Shhhh).
Run around in circles on our main floor-I don't think it will ever get old.
Play  (Sonic the) "Hedgehog" with dad.
Use his "fast button" to go faster while doing anything, usually when he's running (and I swear it really works!).
Pretend that he's "Dash (from Incredibles) the fastest boy!"

He sure is funny and keeps us laughing.
-He called my dad to sing Happy Birthday and sang the line "happy birthday to you" about 10 times and each time his voice got higher and higher and finally he said, "happy birthday dear gwampa, happy bithday dear gwampa!"
-He asked me to sing I Am a Child of God and as he was walking out of the room, while I was singing, he said, "okay, stop mom." I was almost done and thought I'd just finish and he said, "I don't want to hear it!"
-While putting him to bed tonight he chose to wear his Spider-Man pj shirt, that has wings or I guess webs-you know what I mean. And he told me, "I want to wear my Spider-Man shirt so I can fly to....(pause)....TEXAS!!!!" I asked him why Texas, and he said, "So I can go see my friend Yogan (Logan) and my other cousins and friends! Yeah that's because!"-He says, "that's because," when he means "that's why."
-"So Mom you're hair looks good! You look beautiful! Are you a princess?"
-"So, what do you want to do now Mom?"-about every 10 minutes.

It is so fun to watch him learn new things and become his own person with a big personality. When I thought of having a little boy, I thought of lots of cars, trains, trucks, mud, bugs, you know, typical boy stuff. Well this kid sure likes all that stuff, but he's not way into those things like a lot of little boys are. Luke loves to do puzzles, play games, color, paint, build/make things. He likes to pretend he's a super hero. He has a big imagination and it's so fun.

I love this picture. I found all these things neatly set up in our living room. I tried taking the picture without him noticing me noticing his things (if that makes sense). They kind of sum him up. He loves to wear the Batman mask and "protect the good people and fight the bad guys." He loves to have sword fights. His arrows for his bow, with more "swords" he made. The red rope by his foot, he uses that to "tie on his peg leg!" He seriously limps around like he has a peg leg, it's so funny. And I don't really get the snowman bag, but he carries pretend food around in it, maybe he just knows about emergency preparedness?

Just some random pictures!

It's always fun when Daddy comes home!
Just a cute picture of Matt and Devin, after a short 10 hour shift. Can you tell how happy Matt is about that?
Seriously, his shifts are usually waaaaaaaay longer. When he takes weekend call, they are more like 27ish hour shifts. Crazy!
You're probably getting sick of these Luke-and-Devin-wrestling-on-the-rug pictures....but this is a big portion of my day...and I like to take pictures. I think I need to be more creative.
I know, it's almost always of Devin' face, but that is because Luke is the wild one that won't stay still long enough for me to get his face. And Devin is always so happy.

Even when he's trying to eat Luke's nose.
Gross!
Notice Luke's hilarious shirt? I don't know where he found this "Hawaiian" shirt, but he insists on wearing it. It's funny because it's too big on him and it's 27 degrees outside.
Bat Baby.
This was the best 25 cents ever spent.
I love all my cute boys!
