Morning Chatter

This was Luke this morning, he's such a little chatter box all the time. I thought it was cute so I tried to record it. Sorry we've only got a webcam so the quality isn't that great.

By the way the loud sound in the background is a fan.

Memorial Day

This year it was just me and Luke for most of the day. There was a parade that passed the end of our street. In the morning it was rainy but by the time the parade started it getting warm and sunny so we headed out and enjoyed a Cleveland style parade. It was a lot of fun! This torpedo car-thing- me and Matt have seen

around town really briefly, driving around

like other cars, and each time we

are both like..."Whoa did you just see that!"

And we always think it's our imaginations

....nope its real!

These are Masons (like Joseph Smith was), I can't remember what

it's called something like, Sheath Hospital, they set up a hospital

for very very poor people that can't afford any health care.

It was so entertaining, I was laughing so hard. A lot of the men

had big bellies and were driving these TINY cars, they drove

down and back and forth doing tricks, it was one of my favorites.

I was covering Luke's ears when the fire trucks, police cars,

ambulances and cannons went by.

Then later in the day Matt got off early and we went
to Home Depot and bought some wood to make my little
art/craft room easier to work in. He built the easel, and is
very proud of it. Thank you for the help Matt!!!

Well Memorial Day was fun in Cleveland, but is much better in Utah, I must say. Last year we spent it camping in New York, everyone was drunk, we had to buy earplugs so we could get some sleep. The parade got me soooo excited for the fiesta days in SF!!!! The rodeo, side walk sales, parade, carnival and most of all snow cones!!!!!! I luv Spanish Fark, Utar.

Rooms & as always Luke

Luke's new favorite toy, I guess you could say is his exersaucer, it's also one of my new favorite toys. It's in the kitchen and he'll just play in it for a while, while I can clean or cook. The picture below is him getting caught....

little guy and has to put everything in his mouth.


On Saturday morning we went "garage saling."
We didn't want to spend a lot (not that we usually do
at garage sales) so we dumped out our jar full of
change and took about $12 bucks with us.
We only spent about $6, and I'm proud of
our finds (sorry the pics aren't the best).

We needed another night stand in our room and we found this one that matches almost perfectly, the handle is a little different than the rest of the furniture. We got this stand for....

2 DOLLARS!!! Whooo!


Next,
we found (at the same house) this cherry wood
coat wrack that. We've wanted to get one for a while.
For.....

2 DOLLARS!!!!

We also bought a few childrens books, a shirt for Luke and a swimming hat for him.

We had a successful morning and were happy with our purchases.

For those of you who asked to see the two bedrooms in our home here they are.

Finally, after a year our bedroom almost feels complete.

We still need to get a runner rug and a bed skirt.

And in the picture below, on that blank wall above our bed

I'm working on a big painting to hang there.

The door with the windows off to the side

goes out to "the porch" (thats what we calle it)

it's not insulated so we can't really use it as a room.

We basicaly store a lot of stuff out there and

that's where I paint.

Next is our mutipurpose/(mostly) Luke's room.

Since we don't have a ton of room Luke's room

is used for a few things .

It's his room, Matt's room (well all his clothes

and most of his stuff are there), and our food storage

room.

It's not 100% complete either (I know we're slow)

we still need to hang a few pictures.

But we love the Green!

It's a good thing he's so cute...

WARNING: This is a pretty gross story (I think so anyway).

So this morning after Luke's first nap I thought I should give him his bath now, instead of tonight. He wakes up, he eats and we get ready for bath time, which he loves and is usually a breeze for me because it's so quick and easy.
I gather up all the things I need, fill the bath tub, undress Luke and make sure he's not poopy. Note: Luke doesn't poop very often, maybe once every week or less. (Don't worry the doctor says it okay). He had already had a pretty messy diaper this morning so I thought we were good to go.
So I put him in the water and he pees, as usual, then he starts to grunt and I look at him and say, "you're not going to poop are you?!" And all the sudden a few little squirts appear. I pick him up and wrap him up in a towel. I pour out the water and wash down the tub and his little tub. Luckily, we have a detachable shower head so it makes it a little easier.
Then, I push his legs up and down and try to get him to get it all out. I fill the tub back up, place him in the water...and he goes yet again! I pick him up put him back in the towel, wash down the tubs, fill his with water again. I wait a few minutes try and get him to work it out...nothing. So I put him in the tub once again... and BAM! Here he goes again!!! Once more I lay him on the towel and clean up the damage. Meanwhile, Luke is laughing and smiling and wiggling all around...apparently he thought he was pretty funny.
I fill the tub up for the 4th TIME and I was a little more prepared this time (or so I thought). I put him in the water, he grunts again and again I grab him out of the water and hold him over the toilet, I see a few drops in the toilet and look at the tub and there were already some floaties, so I had to clean it out anyway. I put him in the towel, clean out the tub AGAIN, refill and put him in the water once more. I figure he worked it all out by now, how much can his little body hold? And BOOOOOOOM!!!!! The biggest, baddest, stinky mess ever! How can something so small, cuddly and cute make such a huge stinky mess? Ugh. I quickly pick him up, put him in the towel and clean up the nasty mess, by this point it just wasn't funny at all, even though Luke thought differently. I took a deep breath and still tried to give the little pooper a bath.
He's in the towel and I figure I would rather him mess my towel than poop all over the tub for the 6th time so I pumped his legs up and down trying to get him to get it all out and he just thought it tickled, he laughed every time his knees touched his chest. Finally he pretty much ruins my towel and I try the tub one last time. This time I didn't fill it up I just put him in it and used the shower head to spray him down. I think this time he was distracted by the water coming down on him he didn't have a chance to poop again. I washed him really quick and got him all cleaned up successfully!

Matt you are so lucky you weren't home and if our heating bill is high this month, blame Luke.
I thought of taking a picture of the towel, but decided no one would want to see it.

The Mom's in my life....

I just want to thank all the mama's in my life!

I'll start with my mother-in-law, Anne. Thank you to all you do for us, and all the little fun ideas and crafts you send me to keep me busy. I'm lucky to have such a great mother-in-law! You have taught me a lot in the short time I have known you, you are a great woman.
Secondly, my dearest sisters!!!! You guys are the best! I love you all so much! You are all wonderful mother's to your sweet little critters. I have learned SOOO much from you, and have had plenty of "mothering experiences" with all your kids. I love them all too. You guys are so much fun and I miss you so so much.

And last but not least, MY MAMA!!! I love you Mom! Thank you for all you do, and all you have taught me. You are such an amazing and talented woman. You are always there for your kids and you are an awesome grandma!

One of your finest talents is cake decorating, no offense girls, but mine was definately the prettiest cake of all! From what you have taught me I have developed skills in cake decorating, cooking, art, painting and so much more. They are all things I enjoy spending my time on.

You always are there to help everyone out. Sorry you get stuck with all the babies in the family on our family trips while we go off and have fun, you are the best!

Thank you for coming all the way out to cold dreary Ohio to help me with Luke. I truly appreaciate all that you do!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, and all the women in my life, my sisters, sister-in-laws, my grandma, mother-in-law and all my dear friends! Thank you for all you do and all you have taught me!

My First Mother's Day

This year was my first Mother's Day. Sunday Matt was on call all day, so we decided to celebrate it on Saturday. We went and cleaned the church, Matt made me a yummy breakfast (for lunch) french toast, eggs, bacon and orange juice, my absolute favorite! Then we went on a little walk to a nearby school and played a little soccer, played with Luke and enjoyed the sun and warm weather. Later that night Matt played in two soccer games (he made 3 goals! whoo!) and after we all went out for ice cream at my favorite place, Mitchells! Matt got me the Leona Lewis music for my mp3 player. It was a great day.

On the actual day of Mother's Day, we got to talk to our brother (-in-law for me) Cameron who is serving a mission in Mexico! He sounded so good. I took Luke to church with me and all the women got brownies and ice cream, it was awesome!! After church Matt surprised me, he got off early and came home in time to make me a delicous chicken parmesan dinner. What a great weekend!

Two down...two to go. Ha. Yeee Summer...ahhh.

Yay for Steve and all the other students who just finished the first year of their "Doctor" programs! Well Matt finished his 2nd year back in March and he's on to his 3rd (long) year. Only two more years in Cleveland! Whoo! We like it here, but we're excited to move on we just have to be patient for a little while longer.

Matt has been super busy with his rotations lately. He's currently doing OB/GYN. He's scrubbed in for a few C-Sections and delivered one baby and hopes to deliver a bunch more this week and the next. He really enjoys OB and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what he ends up doing. I haven't seen much of him lately. He's been on call through the nights and comes home and sleeps till sometime in the afternoon. I'm just glad he's enjoying it and learning a lot.

As for me a Luke, we've been enjoying the lovely May weather and I've been busy working and being a full time mama. Luke is 3 months old now and could possibly be teething...yikes! He's supper slobbery and is always trying to chew his fingers off. He's also been trying very hard lately to sit up and grab at toys. He is so much fun and is the happiest baby I have ever seen. It's great! He sleeps about 11 hours straight through the nights almost every night, we are so lucky! My only thing is I want to change his sleep schedule, so he'll go to sleep about 8pm. Right now he'll sleep from 9:30 or 10pm-8 or 9am. Any ideas????

Well we are really looking forward to these summer months. Matt will be doing research from July to October, so he won't be nearly as busy. In June, the whole Clark family is headed out here and me and Luke are joining them for about a week and a half. We're seeing all the Church sites here and hitting the others in PA and NY then on down to Washington DC. I'm very excited about DC, I have never been there. It will be fun to spend time with them. I wish Matt could come!

In July, we are headed home to the Fark. YEA!! We'll be staying for a few days with the whole Johnson family in a cabin in Heber and do some four wheeling (yay!!). Matt is only staying for a week, fortunately I get to stay for two! I'm so excited for the Rodeo, shopping, swimming and most of all SNOW CONES!!! I can't find any here, Ugh!

In August, my best friend Dani and her new hubby Tyler will most likely be visiting us on their way home from New Jersey and we can't wait to see them.

And last but not least, in September my dear parents will finally be coming to Cleveland!!! I take it back my mom came when I had Luke but she was stuck in my apt the whole time. We'll be doing some site seeing to Niagra Falls and Church sites here and in NY.

We have so much fun stuff to look forward to this summer!
