Devin turns TWO

Devin had his 2nd birthday on September 10th!
It was a Monday and we had just returned the night before from PA. My parents were coming into town the following day, so we just laid low and had a little celebration with our little family.

Dev definitely knew it was his birthday. Every time we'd say "Happy Birthday Devin!" He'd yell (and he is very, very loud these days) "YEAAAHHH!!!!"

My funny boy was more than pleased to have balloons and wear swimming goggles for most of the morning. Things are so simple, when they are little. :)

We tried to teach him his new age...Two is tricky.

After his nap (3-4 hours still, yay!!!) he insisted on wearing his swimming shorts, even though it was 60 degrees outside! Maybe he was trying to tell us what he wanted to do for his birthday?

After Daddy got home, we brought down his present ($12 at a garage sale...hoorah for simple, right?!)
After his favorite dinner, poppy seed chicken, we had brownies and ice cream in our own little ramekins. The boys thought that was so fun!

By the end of the day, I think he almost got it down.

We're so happy that Devin joined our family 2 years ago! We just love, love, love him to pieces. He is especially a mama's boy...but has taken to his daddy lately ("I want Daddy. Where did daddy go? Wok?").
Lately, he says "Uh oh what pappened?!" "What mom?! (repetitively), "Where'd wook go?"
He is starting to form sentences and talk quite well.
He is a bit of a two-year-old. He throws the tantrums and is not the nicest little brother.
He is a very good eater, and has recently stopped throwing his plate of food onto the floor and will walk to the sink and try to get it in the sink (but usually ends up splattered all over the counter).
He's a great sleeper, in his toddler bed.
I could go on forever about our Devin.

We love you SO SO much little Devin!
Happy Birthday to YOU!

The Garden's at the Kirtland Temple

On Sunday afternoon while my parent's were in town, we visited the Kirtland Temple. It was a lovely day!
The flowers were just gorgeous. No peeps in these pics. More from their visit later on.

Mom, now you can pin these! Haha jk. :)

The Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania

A few weeks ago we took a VERY quick trip (with too much driving!) in two days, pretty much.

We met up with some of our favorite peeps, Dave and Meg, and spent some quality time in the Pocono (poke-a-no....I think) "mountains." It was about a 6 hour drive one way and Pennsylvania has mountains compared to Ohio, but nothing compared to the Rockies! We were close to Scranton, PA.
We stayed in this super, old-folky, resort. It was fun, but the town was a little odd...like so small town, it was almost creepy....or maybe that's just me?

We left the Cleve at 6pm Friday night and we arrived about midnight. Mister Dev slept 2 hours in the car and when we got there the boys got all wild and Devin refused to go to sleep until 5AM!!!!! Not even kidding. Poor Matt had to take him out to the car, put him in his carseat and Matt slept in the back on a pack'n play pad. That lasted about 2 hours and then he was up for the morning. Probably the worst all-nighter we've had to pull.

The next day we played at the park. Matt and Dave played a game of basketball against 2 random boys...I'm assuming the boys won. Then doubles tennis and more tennis.

Back at the tennis courts, Dev got some clay (from the court) in his scalp and we had to scrub and scrape to get it out! So the boys had a fun, first experience in a jet tub.

Then we decided to drive a little ways away to this adorable town called Jim Thorpe. Seriously, adorable. It had a very European feel to it (according to Matt, who's been there). But it POURED buckets and buckets of rain. It was such a bummer. We pulled up to this ice cream place and ended up having them pack up a quart of ice cream for us and ate it later that night. It was such a bummer...I couldn't take any photos...but I grabbed a few off line so you could get an idea. It's nestled in the mountains and is just so pretty!

Later that night we went bowling at this awesome, little bowling alley. Headed home for some delish Bubba Burgers. We always have a fun time chatting and just hanging out with them.

That night, in case you were curious, we put Devin strapped in his car seat, and put it in the pack'n play (because he could climb out) and it worked. Once he fell asleep we took him out and let him lay in the crib. Genius!

Sunday morning we basically got ready, drove to church and said our good-byes. We hit the road for our 6 hour drive back home.

We get a photo of McKelle and Luke like this almost every time we are together...eventually we'll have to stop.  Since they are cousin's after all. But isn't it so funny?!  I love that Luke has the remote in his hand and that they are watching TV. Haha!

Fun times in PA!

Love you, you other Clarks!
