Mom's 60th Birthday

A few weeks ago was my mom's 60th Birthday!
We wanted the night to be extra special.

I can get a little carried away with parties...as you may know.

We hosted the party in the backyard. It was a lovely night!
Dinner was catered from Dickey's BBQ (YUMMY!).
I had so much fun planning and throwing this party with my sisters.
It turned out just perfect.

We really didn't have to buy much as far as decor went.
We bought the lights (and I love them!!!), flowers (costco), vases/buckets (the dollar store).
We had the table cloth, burlap, plates, napkins and silverware, and
the twine was from our Etsy shop. It really was so fun!

And for dessert we had 3 types of fondue: chocolate, toffee and chocolate marshmallow.

If you couldn't tell, only adults were allowed!
It was a nice evening kid-free. :)
We were only missing Brandon and Holly, due to work and illness. :(

Jenny, Bryce, Susie, Matt, Angi, Gpa and Gma Hales, Mom and Dad,
Steve, Mandy, Matt, Me, Chris.

 The original Johnson ladies.
My lovely mother, who does NOT look like 60! :)
And my adorable grandparents.
And this squirt. He was supposed to be sleeping.

Happy Birthday Mom!
We love you!

May's randomness...So far.

I feel like I'm being totally lame for not having more specific posts on my blog....so much happens and it's hard to keep up, so I jam it all in one!

Here's the first half of May.
Spotting bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks out our front window (you really don't need binoculars to see them).
So so so many walks to the park. It's been so warm lately (though, it was freezing all weekend, so we're excited for the warmer weather to finally return!). You'd think we live at Horseshoe Park.
We walked there this day...4 miles! Go us! :)

Devin seems to be going through a licking phase and it is downright disgusting!
I catch him licking the most random things, windows at the library, the glass at the deli counter at the grocery store and he thought I wasn't watching when he was licking all over his bed...gross boy!!!

We're not putting Devin into an official preschool this coming school year, so instead we've decided to buy a few passes to parks and museums around here. That's the great thing about living in a big city, lots of museums! Our first pass is to Lake Farm Park. Good ol' farm life and the boys love it there!

We had SO much fun, there were new baby calves, piglets and sheep to see! It was so neat for the kiddos.
They do lots of demonstrations and little shows, we watched a bordier (sp?) colly (ya know, the dog) round up sheep and we learned how to milk a cow! Devin was hilarious!! All the kids were either too scared or chickened out when it was their turn to milk the cow, but Devin reeeeally wanted to. Funny kid.

Some of my favorite peeps joined us. What a group of hooligans!

Totally random pic of Dev on his bouncy ball...he bounces all over the house.

And recently the City of Cleveland (Metroparks) bought this private golf course near our house, so now it's a public park and it is so great! 150 acres of trails and open green grass.
We've been a few times already. It's so great!

Perfect day to fly a kite!
And little "sand pits" all over.

"Look Mommy, I'm a inja (ninja)!"

Luke's soccer season started. The last 3 times we've just teamed up with lots of other people in our ward and neighbors and created a (free) little league. Matt has always been able to coach, so it's been so fun for all of us. Luke's on the red (light saber) team this year...even though many of the kids think their pink! ;)

Another random pic...just because we like to make fun of these kids all the time! Just a few blocks away is a busy road, near a college. Many of the houses that line that road are full of college students that throw these seriously LAME parties on their front lawns. They usually pull a couch out on the lawn and have a kiddie pool and probably lots of alcohol. And it's usually like 10 guys and 1-2 girls. Haha. At this party, it looks like an intense game of Corn Hole....a game they play here...or at least we've only ever heard of it here.
Guess that's just another funny thing we'll remember about living here.

We had our first backyard roast this year too!
A bit of an impromptu roast with hotdogs and smores. The boys had lots of fun!

The boys didn't like the smoke in their eyes so they found some funny glasses to protect their eyes.

Daddy has been on a tough rotation, working lots through the night. When he comes around to waking up mid-day...well the boys go wild.

Spring finally came and it seems like summer is just around the corner. All of the sudden our backyard is full of leaves and shade! I love these seasons here!

Prego baby bump....take a couple weeks ago.

More time at the new Acacia park....I'm not sure why Devin needed to lay down everywhere!

In case you didn't know (because we just learned this!) at every Lego store, on the first Tuesday of every month they do a FREE Lego building. You do have to wait for a while, but it's free and the kids loved it!

Belly...32 weeks.

Mailee, Dev and Toby
Dev is such a crack up. And Toby is such a big boy!
He's possibly bigger than Devin, but only about 14-15 months old. :)
Dev insisted on having his photo taken like so.

Throwing water balloons at the cars.

Just before Mother's Day, our (favorite) Chick-fil-a hosted a Mother and Son's Date Knight.
This was the only pic I got that night. You order food (from your fancy table), they give the moms flowers, and free desserts and there was a clown there to tie balloons for the kids. Always a hit!
Matt recently started teaching Luke how to play the piano. So far...it's going...pretty well. :)

Stinker Devin has learned yet another gross trick. Picking his nose...and occasionally eating it.
I get after him and he hides.
A few minutes later I look back and he's asleep...
Gross.

Matt and I went on a fun date last weekend. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Bspot. Then we decided to visit the Cleveland Art Museum. That was fun. It's been years since we've gone. And after we went out for ice cream at Mitchell's. It was such a fun night!

My super handsome Lukey Luke on Mother's Day. (It was like 40 degrees!)
My awesome mother-in-law has made so many fun FHE lessons and games for our family. The boys are currently obsessed with playing Word of Wisdom Robot Bingo. Devin now yells, "Say NO to drugs!"

More Horseshoe Park...

And last of the randomness...We FINALLY got central air! YESSS! I seriously wanted to cry when I felt cold air coming out of our vents. It was super expensive, but we really wanted it before we put our house on the market next year and this way we'll get to enjoy it for this summer!

So since they put a new furnace and AC in our basement, we decided to fix up the rest of our basement while it's already torn apart. Matt is currently re-drywalling the ceiling. We want to paint it and the walls and the (cement) floor and just make it seem brighter and more clean down there. It's the unfinished side of our basement (although, it's way less scary than most basements we've been in here!). I think it'll look great when it's done!
